Frequently Asked Questions

What size area rug do I need?

A good starting point is to measure your space and identify a minimum and maximum rug size that works for the room. In living rooms, the most common approach is to have all furniture legs on the rug, or just the front legs on—both work well depending on room size. For dining rooms, make sure the rug extends at least 24" beyond all sides of the table so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out.

Can I take rugs home to try?

Yes. Our On Approval program lets you take rugs and samples of all sizes home for up to 24 hours so you can see them in your actual space before committing. Just ask.

How do I care for my rug?

Spot cleaning: Our favorite natural spot cleaning solution for wool rugs is 50% distilled white vinegar, 50% water. It is important to avoid using carpet cleaners or heat based cleaning method on wool rugs. Blot spills immediately with a clean damp cloth. Don't rub—blotting motions and multiple applications for more stubborn spills are your friend.

Regular vacuuming: Vacuum on a low/gentle setting with the agitation bar turned off (suction only). Avoid the fringe if you can.

Rotation: Rotate high-traffic rugs every 6–12 months for even wear.

How long does it take to order a rug in a different size?

If our maker has the rug in stock, it typically takes 1-3 weeks to get to us depending on the size. Custom-made sizes can take anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months depending on the maker. We'll give you an honest estimate before you commit.

Can you ship rugs outside Central Oregon?

Yes. Most of our makers allow us to drop-ship directly to homes outside Central Oregon. Give us a call or email to discuss—shipping costs vary by rug and destination.

Do you carry rug pads?

Yes — and both types we carry are made with all-natural rubber. No PVC, no synthetic latex, no plasticizers. Natural rubber grips through surface tension rather than chemistry, so it holds securely without ever staining or damaging your floor's finish. We stock two options (a premium rubber & felt pad and an everyday waffle pad) in all standard sizes, cut to order. See our Services page for full pricing.

Do you clean rugs?

We're the drop-off and pick-up point for Bend Rug Cleaning. Turnaround is typically 4–6 weeks. See our Services page for pricing by fiber type.

Do you repair or resize rugs?

Yes—we work with trusted local craftsmen for both repair and custom sizing. Pricing and lead times vary. Call or visit us for a quote.

Can I put an area rug on top of carpet?

Absolutely. Area rugs are a great way to add layering, update a room, or cover older carpet. A non-slip pad designed for carpet-to-rug use is recommended.
